I finish work today. Today! Cripes!  Have just been treated to flowers and cakes from the work girls all to the wedding march tune! Bless them – a lovely surprise.  I actually drove the camper van into work today to get over any jitters I have about driving it round. It all went fabulously well and is now parked right at the entrance of work on display to all!

Aside from the camper-tastic-ness, somehow the wedding is now only four sleeps  away and it seems unbelievable that it’s crept up on us so soon! We’ve leapt from three months to less than a week and time has absolutely flown. Admittedly I’ve been focused on my bridal bootcamp regime a fair bit and painting Trevor like it’s going out of fashion, and life has been manic to say the least, so the wedding has kinda crept up on me…

Anyhoo, to add to general realisation that the Big Day is not far off, there we were in church Sunday and our names were in the newsletter as a forthcoming wedding – in black and white, there it was! Added to that, our lovely priest singled us out at the end of Mass highlighting our forthcoming nuptials – cue lots of well-wishers shaking hands, offering good luck and some dishing out advice. The priest reckons we look chilled out, which we probably do in all fairness (it was 0830 and my worry genes hadn’t woken up by then).

Having said we look chilled out though and with The Boy usually in a state of placidness as far as stress goes, this morning Boy revealed he’d had his first wedding related dream. His first, a week beforehand! (I’m shocked as I’ve been dreaming about it for years. literally.) Anyway. The dream wasn’t great and basically everything was running late. Now, this gives me an indication that under The Boy’s calm exterior is a shot of panic somewhere. Compare this to my dreams (for about 18months) of tripping over shoes, dress being ruined by peanut butter bagel on the morning, Boy being drunk, guests stuck in mudfield at reception, PA system not working, camper van being nicked, Priest ill on the day etc etc. You get the idea.  But this is all in my head and I’m telling myself to relax, be calm and enjoy the day on Saturday. It’ll only happen once and whatever happens, it’s going to be ACE!

S’been ages since I last blogged. Seriously, ages.  Sometimes I go on holiday and I’m already thinking about posts I want to write whilst I’m mid campsite.  But recently, I’ve had a mini drought of some kind. It’s been almost a month!

Missed me?

Hmm, possibly not…but in any case, here’s a quick run down of whasss been going on!

 - Cooked Father John thai chicken kebabs and rice, and showed him our veg patch. He was impressed.  Am sure this has convinced him that as our onions are in straight lines, we have a good marriage ahead of us.

 - The Boy survived his stag do, and came back with hair intact.  Involved Amsterdam, Skis, boiler suits and oysters.

 - Went to first wedding of the season and could tell I was B2B as nearly blubbed at arrival of le bride. Tres bon do involving pianist who played Spandau Ballet!

 - Have tweaked a tendon in my foot. This is not good news for Bridal Bootcamp regime and have tried to compensate for lack of running with swimming and cycling.

 - Work has gone crazy mental, am v glad we have a good gang of mateys in the office to keep sane with! Am looking forward to cocktail-hen-do type evening with les ladies on Friday, bring on wine time!

 - Invites have gone out for wedding and replies are trickling back. It’s quite frustrating waiting for people to reply. I would like to know in an instant whether it’s yay or nay, am v impatient!

 - Tried to inspire The Boy on the John Lewis gift list front with a very mild introductory visit, after work, for one hour. Including food.  He was quite good and managed to not break glasses, walk calmly through the towel section and even find an opinion on placemats. Good effort! Lack of opinion/caring means that Gift List is now in my lap. Woah yeah!! Bring on the soft furnishings!!

O my god. I realise I’ve written the list above and ALL of it relates to wedding! I’m not obsessed, seriously I don’t think I am but that makes me look obsessed and freaky bridezilla-y! Must try harder next time.

Anyhoo, that’s all for now, me is tired. Off to Bedfordshire.

On the plus side. PMA! December 11, 2008

With my operation cancelled yet again, I’m keeping my spirits up by thinking on the ‘plus side’ of this news.  Here’s what I’ve come up with so far:

1. I get to go to Robyn’s mince pie and mulled wine bonanza this evening

2. I can go to the Rugby Girls Christmas party without a smashed up face and properly drink, hoopla!  This means I won’t feel a fool playing the silly games, and I am likely to feel a fool the day after when I will be hungover. Good news

3. I can go to Monkey and Lisa’s place for afternoon Mojitos on Sunday

4. All of the above are alcohol related activities – on the non-alcoholic scale, I will now be able to go lovely lunching and mooching round posh shops on Saturday afternoon with my University buddies

5. I have a black tie do to go to on 19th December, which I should be intact for (unless I get a short notice cancellation, in which case I deffo won’t be going!)

6. I get to see my work buddies in work each day in the run up to the Festive season (the down side is, I’m in work).

7. A consolatory posh dinner out with The Boy on Friday, which will make up for not doing anything on our 4th anniversary.

That’s all I can muster up at the moment!

Things that are annoying me today September 11, 2008

As you can tell from the title, this post will be a bit of a rant. I feel I’m being quite negative lately, sorry about that as I’m usually a sunny optimistic person, but sometimes you gotta let off steam, ain’t cha!  Most of these are petty and silly but then it’s those kinds of things that wind me up…so here goes.

1. People who don’t pay their tea money then keep drinking stuff I’ve paid for.

2. People who I leave a message for who don’t call me back.

3. Nicky Campbell on Five Live breakfast.  He just annoys me full stop.

4. Slackers. I can’t say any more on that.

5. I’ve got to Five and run out.  That actually makes me feel better as I thought I’d have a list as long as my arm.  Aaah, and now some lush Oasis tune has come on to Last.fm.  I guess today is getting better and better…

And to continue the upbeat vibe I’m ending on, tonight I’ve got lovely book/wine club with my buddies – we have been reading R.J.Ellory’s A Quiet Belief in Angels which has been totally excellent. I recommend!

OK, rant alert here…

Just had an irate person on the phone to me who’s involved in a project I’m doing publicity for, saying that the draft press release I’d done was completely off track and unsuitable and that it was going to offend/upset/shock people in its present form.  I kid not!

Now, I’m ok with critical feedback, I really do have a thick skin, but this particular caller rankled somewhat for a number of reasons.  Firstly, I was working with information I’d been given which apparently now was incorrect, so of course, the release will have to change.  Secondly, she herself had seen the draft release in a previous phase and commented on it, forwarded it to people and NOT ONCE come back to me with amendments or dramatic changes.  In fact, a particular phrase she criticised on the phone was something she herself had sent to me(!).  Thirdly, two senior project managers had seen publicity plans and the release and neither had told me that either contained info that was incorrect.

Oof! Sooo annoying.  Frankly lady, I am not psychic and I work with the info I’m given (that you’ve given BTW). I am not a mind reader!!

So – where does this leave me now: irate and needing a large glass of wine.

Luckily there’s a girls dinner tonight so I feel that will provide the wine, for sure!!
